Radon Daughter

12″ x 12″ – Acrylic on Wood Panel

This image is taken from an exhibition which was held at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, Albuquerque NM. The solo exhibition entitled, “Radon Daughter” consisted of imagery related to the Anaconda Jackpile Uranium Mine, near the village of Paguate on the Laguna Pueblo.

My imagery were of places I lived as a child. Basically – places which left an impression on me as seen from a child’s perspective.

Most of the time; man made landscapes are seen in many of my paintings. This is the depiction of the Mine. It was 1000ft away from the Village of Paguate.

This is an abstract image of my daughter, Ryan. She is surrounded by a vast canyon, as rainclouds make there way over the Mesa top.

Her hair illuminated by short bursts of light from the sun. A streak of blue in her hair; celebrating the beauty of Autism.

This painting was made into a mural for an exhibition entitled “Grounded in Clay” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, NY.
